The Good: Inexpensive, Quiet, Easy to use, Excellent air flow, No loss of USB port

The Basics: The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is an incredible cooling pad that lives up on its promises, even if it is not the most portable laptop cooler ever!
This last summer was, by far, the hottest one I have known and with the autumn shaping up to be only marginally cooler, my wife and I needed new laptop cooling pads. After a few weeks of using the Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand, it is hard not to be absolutely thrilled about it. I find myself writing a review of the FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand before I can reasonably write about its durability. Will the FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand hold up over time in a way that all of the other laptop cooling pads I have used have not? I have to believe it will because Marvo has done everything else right with its FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand!
The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is a hard plastic desk-like support for laptop computers which features fold-down plastic feet on the bottom and flip-up supports in the front. This allows the cooling stand to have constant air flow to effectively cool a laptop computer and keep the laptop stable and not sliding forward! The FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is 15 1/2" wide by 11” deep and 1 1/4” tall, when the legs are folded up into the device. The front is lower, even when the legs are up, which makes the laptop’s keyboard raised when it is on the Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand. The laptop computer does not slide because of the front prongs, when raised, keep one's laptop incredibly stable. The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand features four fans, each of which is just under 5" in diameter.
The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is powered via USB power. There is a twenty-two inch detachable cord that ends in a USB-male jack on both ends that plugs into any USB port on the laptop and into a USB port on the FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand. As soon as the device is powered, one needs to turn the two dials at the back of the unit to turn the two pairs of fans on. Once clicked on, the fans light up and the speed of the fans on the Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand may be adjusted. The air flow is so powerful that I barely have to twist the dial past "on" to get my laptop fully cooled!
The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is very quiet, which surprised me given how strong the air flow is coming off of the unit. The lights from the fans help indicate that the FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is on, but it is not overly loud to distract those who want to use it in a generally quiet environment.
The only real detraction I have found for the Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is that it is very big and inflexible, which make it a bit harder to transport than most of today's large, but thin, laptop computers. The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand works amazingly well, but because it is so big, it is not nearly as transportable as the laptops that would be put upon it.
That said, Marvo included a neat feature on the Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand. The stand features an additional USB port and on all plug and play devices, when the Cooling Stand is plugged in, the laptop will read the additional USB port. As a result, one does not lose a USB port on their computer while cooling it, which is a huge plus!
I have gone through many laptop cooling pads through the years and the truth is, between planned obsolesence and cooling pads as part of the "statement" one makes with having a laptop (and thus, major manufacturers like Belkin simply changing their product lines to have something new and "hip" to sell), I have had cooling devices that have ultimately underperformed or have broken and I cannot replace them. The Marvo FN-30 Scorpion Laptop Cooling Stand is so good that I am left seriously considering creating a stockpile of them for the rest of my life so I never have to be without one!
