Another Dick Van Patten’s Dog Food Myah Loves, Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Does What It’s Supposed To!

The Good: Very nutritious, Good ingredients, Myah enjoys it!
The Bad: Comparatively expensive, Small size makes it exceptionally easy for cats to get into as well.
The Basics: Despite Gollum getting into and getting sick on Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula adult dog food, it seems to be a food Myah enjoys quite a bit!

Recently, I had to take poor Gollum to the veterinarian. My little ten year-old black cat had to be rushed to the nearby cat hospital because he was bleeding from his penis. Poor little guy was in a ton of pain and was trying so hard to go to the bathroom and was worrying himself as a result. For as much as I love Gollum, he is a little bit of an idiot, apparently. Or, rather, he does not seem to understand that dog food is bad for him. He had been sneaking and chowing down on Myah’s Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula. A $46 vet bill and another $5 for antibiotics later, Gollum is on the mend and Myah is able to enjoy her food as we more consistently discipline the cat when he makes a beeline for her food.

It didn’t help that I bought the small bites version of Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula. This only seemed to encourage Gollum. Myah, however, virtually inhales this food when it is out.

Basics

A single serving of Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food is two and a half cups for a big dog like Myah, though I am sure there is a larger version of the actual food for bigger dogs that might have a different serving size. In this form, she is supposed to get a single such serving each day, so a five pound bag does not last long at all. Getting less than two weeks out of the $15 bag does not work for my budget. Each piece of Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food is a dark brown disc that is very mealy in its texture, though they are hard. They are approximately 3/8" in diameter and 5/16” thick. Myah often eats these several pellets at a time, though to be fair this size was probably meant for tiny dogs.

Ease Of Preparation

As a dry dog food, preparation of Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog is as easy as opening a bag and measuring out the pellets inside. There is no further prep needed.

Myah’s Reaction

Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food smells exceptionally fishy. There is nothing remotely potato-like in the aroma. This smells entirely like fish.

Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food is one that Myah will lap right up. She will eat it until she is full and not more. This is in contrast to some of the other dog foods Myah has had, which she devours until it is gone, no less. Unfortunately, her mild restraint on this dog food made it so Gollum could eat it and get sick on it.

Nutrition

Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food smells very much like fish, which makes sense because it is made with real fish and is grain free. Made primarily of sweet potatoes, salmon and salmon meal, the ingredients are almost all natural. According to the guaranteed analysis, Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food has at least 21% crude protein, 10% crude fat, but no more than 3% crude fiber and 10% moisture. There are also some great Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids. As a dry dog food, it is highly recommended that you have adequate water available for your dog when serving it Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food.

Overall

Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula dog food might have made my cat sick, but it is hard to hold that against the food. This pricy food is one Myah likes, but not enough to gorge herself on, making it a good one for those who can afford to consistently pamper their dogs.
