With So Many Better Versions That Came Later, It Is Impossible To Recommend The Power Of The Force Boba Fett!

The Good: Good balance, Inexpensive enough
The Bad: No collector’s value, Low articulation, Not as detailed as subsequent versions of the figure, Chest proportions are all off.
The Basics: The Power Of The Force Boba Fett action figure is better than the 1980s version, but none of the ones since!

Boba Fett is easily one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars franchise. It is the reason the character has been made into so very many action figures, statues, and dolls. The first in the “modern” run of Kenner/Hasbro action figures was the Power Of The Force Boba Fett. And, at the time, it might have seemed awesome, but compared to all the ones that have come since, the Power Of The Force Boba Fett is decidedly average.

The 4" Boba Fett figure is a good basic Boba Fett and it is probably the best inexpensive Fett for those looking for a cheap version of the bounty hunter.

Basics

This is a simple recreation of Boba Fett with his backpack from The Empire Strikes Back. The figure is olive green and blue. His back has a tab that fits into the slot on his backpack jetpack.

The detailing on the character's costume is quite good. Boba Fett appears in his Mandalorian armor with his helmet and antennae. Fett painted to have molded and colored details all over, including silver widgets taken out of his green armor where, presumably, he had been shot before. On his wrist is his dart launcher and the helmet has perfect coloring details that make this figure instantly recognizable as Boba Fett.

Boba Fett stands 4" tall to the top of his antenna. He stands up perfectly on his own, which was a rare thing for figures from this era. His chest is quite a bit broader than Boba Fett’s actual chest and armor, but that was a conceit of many figures in the first two runs from Kenner.

Accessories

This Boba Fett features a soft plastic cape, jet pack backpack and a standard blaster rifle. The 1 ½” long black plastic blaster looks mostly like Fett’s, save that is it cast in only black plastic. The Jetpack is colored green, silver-gray and orange with the same level of detail as the rest of the figure.

Playability

The four inch toy line was designed for play and Boba Fett is good. The figure is articulated about as much as other Star Wars figures of the time, with only swivel joints at the groin socket, shoulders, waist and neck. This Boba Fett balances well, in part because of the spread-legged stance. This Boba Fett has holes in both feet to keep him stable on playsets, though I've only found cause to use them with the most extreme poses.

Collectibility

The Boba Fett is part of the basic Power Of The Force four-inch series, a series of Star Wars action figures that was exceptionally common. This was a sellout at the time, but started to drop in value the moment the Deluxe figure was released. Even so, the popularity of Boba Fett makes this a figure that has held its value, so it was never really sold at clearance prices.

Overview

The Power Of The Force Boba Fett figure is average, bit not exceptional. Still, for an inexpensive Fett, this is a good toy.
